Key Haven, located on Raccoon Key, is an unincorporated island community inside the Lower Florida Keys and is situated about one mile away from Key West. Stock Island, which lies to the north of Key Haven, is separated by a channel that is about one quarter of a mile wide.
Like its family of island archipelago chain, Raccoon Key has much to offer outdoor enthusiasts, which can enjoy a number of activities throughout the year, month after month. Residents here have the luxury of being so close to Key West, being able to visit the sights and attractions on that island.
Life and Climate in Key Haven
The lifestyle in Key Haven is laid-back, and stress free. Key Haven residents routinely dress in shorts, sandals, and t-shirts and establishments in the city and around it have a come as you are attitude.
Weather in Key Haven is very nice, especially during the winter. During the months of December, January, and February, daytime temperatures climb into the mid to upper seventies, and fall to the sixties overnight. The summer months are warm but pleasant, with an island breeze gently sweeping from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico and back. Temperatures reach into the nineties during the day and fall to the mid to upper seventies during the evening.
Things to Do and See in and Around Key Haven
Key Haven is home to many opportunities that are common throughout the Florida Keys. Locals here in Key Haven and visitors alike can spend a day on the beach, lounging in the sun or wading in the blue water. Coral reefs are great to snorkel or dive. And nearby areas have shipwrecks to explore.
Fishing comes in many shapes and sizes, from deep sea fishing charters which go out into the Atlantic or gulf, to sport fishing off the coast. Kayaking, canoeing, and more are also nearby this tiny tropical hamlet known as Key Haven.
